Chaiken was responsible for the organization and cataloging of political activist and cultural impresario Jim Fouratt’s extensive personal archive of papers, sound recordings, and artwork. Fouratt traversed the counterculture of the 1960s, Stonewall and the birth of the Gay Liberation Front, the AIDs crisis and, in 1979, co-founded the influential Manhattan night club Danceteria. In 2013, Chaiken assisted in the sale of this collection to Yale University’s Beinecke Library.
