Chaiken assisted journalist, critic, and author Renata Adler in the cataloging of her extensive archive of manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, and research materials. Encompassing drafts and notes from Adler’s early journalism for New Yorker magazine, where she wrote on a wide range of subjects including civil rights in Selma, Alabama and the Nigerian Civil War, to her largely uncredited work for the House Judiciary Committee’s investigation into the Watergate break-in, through to her acclaimed novels Speedboat and Pitch Dark. In 2017, the Renata Adler Archive was acquired by the New York Public Library.
