From 2003 to the author’s passing in 2007, Chaiken worked with Norman Mailer on the screening and preservation of his films Wild 90, Beyond the Law, Maidstone, and Tough Guys Don’t Dance. With the Norman Mailer Estate, he orchestrated the 2010 release of Mailer’s films on DVD for the first time in America (the Criterion Collection’s Eclipse Series 35: Maidstone and Other Films by Norman Mailer) and the donation of the Norman Mailer Film Archive to the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge, MA.
